The Ceremony
John Gashinski-
“Friends,
we have been invited here today to share with Ben and Andrea, a very
important moment in their lives. In the time they have been together,
their love and understanding of each other has grown and matured, and
now they have decided to live their lives together as husband and
wife.” <Take a second or two break> “We will
begin the ceremony, with a reading from Ben’s Grandmother, Dorothy
Cann.”
<Dorothy Cann walks down the aisle and stands to the left of Jordan
Kaintz>
Dorothy Cann-
“This
reading is called I love you, by Roy Croft. I love you, not only
for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you, not
only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of
me. I love you, for the part of me that you bring out. I love you, for
putting your hand into my heaped-up heart, and passing over all the
foolish, weak things that you can’t help dimly seeing there, and for
drawing out, into the light, all the beautiful belongings that no one
else had looked quite far enough to find. I love you, because you have
done more than any creed could have done to make me good, and more than
any fate could have done to make me happy. You have done it without a
touch, without a word, without a sign. You have done it by being
yourself.”
<Dorothy Cann walks back to her seat>
John Gashinski-
“Thank
you <said to Dorothy Cann> “In marriage, we give
ourselves freely and generously into the hands of the one we love, and
in doing so, each of us receives the love and trust of the other as our
most precious gift. But even as that gift is shared by two people who
are in love, it also touches the circle of friends and family members
who in various ways support and contribute to the relationship. All of
you are Ben and Andrea’s circle, and each of you has played some part in
bringing them to this moment. This is why gathering with friends and
family is such an important part of a wedding ceremony. Because Ben and
Andrea are now taking a new form as a married couple, and in this form,
they become part of their circle in a new way.” <Take a second or
two break> “In place of reading traditional vows, Ben and
Andrea have written their own. <Turn to Ben Miller> Ben,
would you please read your vows to Andrea?”
Ben Miller- “Andrea- Today, I choose you to be my
wife. While I can’t promise to be a perfect man, I promise to love you,
respect you and to be faithful to you, standing by your side as long as
God will allow. Whether the world hands us fortune or hard times, you
and I will face it together. I promise to dedicate my life to you and
to our new family. I promise that our family will always come first and
I will do everything I can, to be the kind of husband and father that my
dad taught me to be. We may never be the richest couple on the block or
live the life of luxury, but we will always be wealthy with the things
that truly matter. This is my vow to you.
John Gashinski-
“Thank
you, Ben. <Turn to Andrea Fedak> Would you please read
your vows, Andrea?”
Andrea Fedak-
“Ben, even though we already started our lives together,
there are some things I want to promise you as we begin our marriage: I
will always love you for everything that you are and everything that you
will be. I will be faithful to you and stand by your side through the
good and the bad. Family always comes first to me, therefore I promise
to make it first as we create our family today. And finally, I promise
to do anything you want me to do, as long as you have enough points.
John Gashinski-
“Thank
you, Andrea. <Turn to face guests> “The wedding ring is
the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual bond which
unites two loyal hearts in endless love. It is a seal of the vows Ben
and Andrea have made to one another. Let these rings also be a sign
that love has substance as well as soul, a present as well as a past,
and that, despite its occasional sorrows, love is a circle of happiness,
wonder, and delight. <Turn to Ben Miller> Benjamin, take
Andrea’s ring, put it on her finger, and repeat after me- With this
ring”
Ben Miller-
“With
this ring”
John Gashinski-
“I
pledge to you all that I am”

“Alexandra and Jordan, please come forward and join hands with Ben
and Andrea.”
<Ben Miller,
Andrea Fedak, Alexandra Kaintz and Jordan Kaintz all join hands to form
a circle>
John Gashinski-
“Ben and Andrea have chosen to extend their commitments to each other,
by making promises to the children of their new family. As they join
hands to form a new circle of love, we will seal the union with spoken
promises, like the rings Ben and Andrea have just exchanged. Ben and
Andrea, do you promise to be faithful, loving, tender and
nurturing parents, always there for Jordan and Alexandra, not only
providing their physical needs, but their emotional needs as well,
always a good listener, a loving counselor and a friend?”
Ben Miller and
Andrea Fedak- “We do” <Let go of each other’s hands and
face Jordan Kaintz> “Jordan, we give you this ring as a sign of
our loving promises made this day.” <Andrea Fedak hands ring to
Jordan Kaintz. Turn to face Alexandra Kaintz> “Alexandra, we
give you this ring as a sign of our loving promises made this day.”
<Ben Miller hands ring to Alexandra Kaintz>
John Gashinski-
“May God now bless your new family.
<Alexandra
Kaintz and Jordan Kaintz return to their spots>
John Gashinski-
“Our second reading will be the Apache Wedding Blessing, read by
Andrea’s Uncle and Godfather, Greg Fedak.
<Greg Fedak walks down the aisle and stands to the right of Alexandra
Kaintz>
Greg Fedak-
“Now
you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth for the
other. Now there is no more loneliness. Now you are two persons, but
there is only one life before you. May your days together be good and
long upon the Earth.
<Greg Fedak walks back to his seat>
John Gashinski-
“Thank
you <said to Greg Fedak> “May
the courage of the early morning's dawning, the strength of the roaring
ocean, the peace of the evening's ending, and the love of God be in your
hearts now and forevermore. Amen.
By the power vested in me by
Universal Ministries and the State of New Jersey, I now pronounce you
husband and wife.” <Face Ben Miller> “You may now kiss
the bride.” <After kiss, face guests> "I present to you
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Miller.
